Help When You Need It

Hebrews 4:16

Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

Today’s passage reminds us that God is always available for us. We must be confident. We must be bold. We must be determined. But when we ask for His help, He is always available.

I remember thinking why would I bother God with something this small? Or why would I waste His time with something I should be able to handle? You probably have asked similar questions. But can I ask you this – Why wouldn’t you? There is nothing too small or insignificant to God. He gave specific instructions to us “cast ALL your cares on me”. He wants them all. And He will be right there ready to give help when needed.

Imagine He’s a life jacket – available if you need it but will not get in your way if you don’t. So, when you feel like you can’t go any further – go boldly to God and ask for help. He will be right there every time.

Don’t Worry!

Matthew 6:33-34

We are all familiar with verse 33 – seek ye first the kingdom of God and all these things will be given to you. But verse 34 – Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

The first thing that popped in my mind was the song – Don’t worry! Be happy! It’s hard to be happy when you are worrying whether your needs are going to be met. The first verse says if we seek God (do the things God requires us to do, ask Him for help, turn to Him when things get hard, depend on him) He will provide us with all our needs. The next verse says not to worry about tomorrow. We are to focus on today one day at a time.

Many of our frustrations come from trying to figure out what we are going to do next week. How we are going to make this work or how we are going to make that work. That’s not what we are required to do. All God wants from us is TODAY. He wants us to commit TODAY. He wants us to work TODAY. He wants us to love TODAY. He wants us to move TODAY.

When you bring your focus back onto today’s issues, the pill isn’t as hard to swallow. Yes, the bills are going to be there. The stress is going to be there. The lack is going to be there. But right now, you are breathing. You have life. He’s providing you everything you need. Breathe in, Breath out, Smile and Be Happy. What can you do right this moment to make it better? Then that’s what you do! But DO NOT WORRY! and DO NOT QUIT!

Stick It Out!

Hebrews 10:35-36
I love the Message Bible translation of these verses … don’t throw it all away now. You were sure of yourselves then. It’s still a sure thing! But you need to STICK IT OUT, staying with God’s plan so you’ll be there for the promised completion.

God has a plan for you but you must stick it out. When you started this path, you were on fire. You were committed. You knew exactly what you wanted. You were so confident. Nothing or no one could stop you. Everywhere you turned, you saw opportunity.

What happened? What changed? You slowed down and now you are ready to quit! Why? Did the path become difficult? Did you get tired? Did something not go your way? What happened?

The goal didn’t change you did! You changed for the better. You are stronger. You are wiser. The small steps have become easy. It’s time to make some longer strides. It’s time to push pass the doubt. Push past the pain. You’ve come too far to give up now! It may require a little more work but you can do it.  You are so close. Look at all you have already accomplished. You do not want to quit. If you quit now you will regret it!

The promise (reward) is already there. But you must make it to the finish line. You can do it! I believe in you. STICK IT OUT!

Until Next Time,

Trust GOD!!

Proverb 3:5-6

Trust God! Sometimes easier said than done. We say we trust God but when things get difficult or confusing we are ready to give up. We are ready to quit. It’s too hard. I can’t do this!  I tried it but this can’t be of God. This hurts way too much. What good could ever come out of this?  Are you trusting God or your feelings?

Our feelings will lead us astray. They can’t be trusted. Feelings change with every passing moment. One minute you can be happy the next you can be sad. You can be mad one moment and something can happen and make you glad all over again. Don’t trust your feelings!

Today’s passage says to trust God with your whole heart.  Even those places that hurt. Trust Him with those things that just don’t make sense. Trust Him when they lie. Trust Him when they hurt you. Trust Him when money is low. Trust Him when the kids are acting up. Trust Him! Trust Him when it doesn’t make sense. Trust him when everything inside of you is screaming to go the opposite way of which He is telling you to go.

Trust HIM! Trust the process. He knows the end. He knows this situation is going to work out for your good. He knows it will make you stronger. He knows it will make you wiser. He knows it will grow you. It may not make sense but you can’t follow what you make sense to you. Follow what makes sense to Him. Give it all to Him and follow His instruction. And watch Him turn it around for you.

Strength Comes From God!!

Philippians 4:10-13
When I’m going through a struggle, Philippians 4:13, is my go to scripture. “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength” Over the years, I’ve learned I need His strength to get me through everything not just a struggle. I’ve learned to pray it. I’ve learned to quote it. I’ve learn to beg for it. In other words, I know the scripture well and have used it a lot.

I am also familiar with the scriptures before it. Where it speaks of being content. I have heard people misquote this scripture. It’s not talking about being happily poor or sadly rich. It’s not talking about being content with being hungry and accepting it as your plight. It’s saying whatever state you find yourself in, trust God. He will see you through. Strength comes from Him not from your circumstance.

So, when you feel like giving up because things around you seem more than you can handle, or when you think everything is going great, remember greater is He that is in you than He that’s in the world. God can turn any situation around in a blink of an eye. Don’t give up and don’t get complacent thinking you don’t need to go hard. In order to have the things you desire in life, you have to go get them. They will not fall out of the sky. The steps of a righteous man (woman) is ordered by the Lord. God will order steps that are moving!

What did you get out of the passage?

Until Next Time,

God Will Guard You!

God Will Guard You!

2 Timothy 1:6-12
Today’s reading talks about fear. We’ve heard the verse before – God did not give us the spirit of fear but of love, power and a sound mine. For years, I thought fear was bad. That we shouldn’t be afraid. That if I was afraid, I was out of the will of God. I, now, realize that being afraid means I’m human. Yes, it is an indication, to me, of something I need to face and ask God to help me with. But each time I have to face a fear, it reminds me that I’m growing. It reminds me that God has revealed something in me that I’m ready to deal with. It reminds me that God is moving me to a new level and that fear has to be dealt with or it will prevent me from moving forward.

I included verse 12 in this reading because we tend to stop at verse 7. But verse 12 says in the English Standard Version, but I am not ashamed, for I know who I believe and I am convinced that He is able to guard (me) until the day (I complete) what has been entrusted to me. So regardless of what battle I face. Regardless what challenge occurs. God will guard me, protect me, watch over me until I am able to accomplish what He has entrusted (assigned, put in my hand to accomplish, delegated) me to do.

So when I feel like giving up, I must remember that I have been entrusted with a task. God will never give us anything that He won’t equip us to accomplish. And on top of that He will guard you until it’s completed. So when fear does come up, remember the fear is not coming from God, it’s coming from the enemy knowing if you accomplish the task at hand he loses! But when you are able to push past that fear with a sound mind, with power from God and the love of what you’re doing God wins every time!.

So keep pushing. Keep persevering! And don’t you dare give up!
