In a world where women of color often feel marginalized and mentally unsafe in their professional environments, it’s time to acknowledge the resilience and creativity that they bring to the table. Despite facing adversity and burnout, women continue to excel in their careers while juggling multiple roles and responsibilities. Whether is leading a team of ambitious individuals, showing up as a loving spouse, helping navigate the lives of children, or building long-lasting friendships; women wear a lot of hats!

As a certified peer support specialist and master life coach, I’ve witnessed firsthand the struggles that many women face in their pursuit of professional success and personal fulfillment. It’s common for my clients to excel in their professions but lack confidence in their personal endeavors, using work as a coping mechanism for unfulfilled relationships or traumatic experiences.  A recent article I read, reported over  40% of women that quit their job in 2023, quoted feeling mentally unsafe in their work environment and a feeling of burn out.

But what if I told you that the burnout you’re experiencing isn’t solely from your overwhelming to-do list, but rather from the lack of fulfillment in your actions and their outcomes? Women are natural nurturers and multipliers, thriving when they can see tangible results and make a meaningful impact. Give a woman a house; she will build you a home.  Give a woman a seed, she will produce a life. Give a woman an opportunity; she will build an empire. There is no stopping a determined woman. Unfortunately the same tenacity used to grow is the same energy that lead many women down the road of burn out and unfulfillment.

The key to overcoming burnout lies in aligning your actions with your desire for impact. When you feel energized and fulfilled in your leadership role, it’s because you can see the positive outcomes of your efforts. However, when your time feels wasted or your efforts go unrecognized, it’s easy to spiral into fatigue and depression, which are two of the most common symptoms of burn out.

Instead of resigning yourself to burnout, ask yourself if you’re truly making an impact in your current endeavors. If not, it’s time to pivot and find ways to create space for meaningful contributions. Whether it’s taking on a new project at work, starting a home improvement endeavor, or nurturing new friendships, prioritize actions that allow you to make a difference and nurture your desire to multiply and enhance what’s around you. You are not a tree, you are not obligated to stay planted anywhere you no longer want to be.

Remember, you are the CEO of your own life, with the power to demote, promote, or terminate anything that no longer serves you. I’m here to help you navigate the complexities of your professional and personal life, empowering you to lead with authenticity and live a strategically fulfilled lifestyle. Stop waiting to be invited to the table and build your own. Nothing is stopping you but you and your limiting beliefs.
